About Fitz Cyclez
Steel is an awesome material to work with and has a timeless quality to it. I have been heavily influenced by my time at Banjo Cycles and really enjoy building classically styled frames and forks. TIG welded bikes are built with brazed drop outs, side attached seat stays, and come with lugged forks. It's a complimentary mix of old and new. I have built many Randonneuring rides, some cross bikes, mountain bikes, adventure, gravel and touring rigs.
I started as an apprentice to Paul Sadoff, spent two years building at Banjo Cycles, and have since been building frames for over a decade. To give you more of an idea of my aesthetic and build philosophy, let me point you to the likes of Paul Sadoff, Rock Lobster, whose bikes are rocket ships both on the dirt and pavement. I really like his mountain and cross bikes. Ahren Rogers, Banjo Cycles, understated elegance and the most exquisite welds one could hope to achieve. Old school acts like Rene Herse, Alex Singer and Jo Routens built bikes that gave grace, to function. From these references and from other elder statesmen in the frame building community I find inspiration. My bikes display a sense of functional elegance that inspire a comfortable and fun ride. I look forward to working with you and to build the bike that you envision. John Fitzgerald Santa Rosa, California |
